Yerevan’s reaction to Ilham Aliyev’s comment

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia reacted to the recent statements of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan about Yerevan.

He also rejected the claims that the constitution of this country contains territorial claims against its neighbors based on the recent decision of the Constitutional Court of Armenia regarding the compliance of the regulations governing the joint activities of the border commissions of Yerevan and Baku with the Constitution of Armenia.

He added: Armenia has also announced that although some parts of the country’s territory are occupied by Azerbaijan, it has no desire or agenda to return these areas through military means, because the aforementioned regulations provide all the opportunities for consideration and resolution. The Armenian diplomat added: Regarding weapons, the United Nations Charter gives every country the right to defend itself. Moreover, according to international law, all countries must protect their citizens.
