According to the Speaker of the Crimean Parliament, “as a result of such powerful attacks against the enemy’s weapons and infrastructure, it can be deprived of the necessary resources to organize heinous actions.”

The Crimean peninsula and Sevastopol officially joined Russia after the referendum on March 16, 2014 (25 March 2014) and with the approval of 97% of the residents.

Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia two days later, on March 18, 2014, together with Aksionov, the President of the “Republic of Crimea” and other officials, signed the annexation treaty of the Republic of Crimea and the city They signed Sevastopol to Russia. According to this treaty, all residents of Crimea are considered Russian citizens unless they apply for the preservation of Ukrainian citizenship.

Ukraine and many western countries still consider Crimea as part of Ukrainian territory and consider the annexation of Crimea to Russia illegal.
