America rejected “Zelensky’s” request for immediate NATO membership

reported Mehr News Agency, according to Kyiv Independent, “Julianne Smith”, Washington’s permanent representative in NATO, in response to the request of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for an immediate invitation to this military alliance, announced: I think NATO’s position on this matter is very clear. We announced at the NATO meeting on its 75th anniversary this summer that Ukraine is on an irreversible path to membership and that Kiev will become a member of the alliance.

The permanent representative of Washington in NATO added: We are not at the stage where the alliance (NATO) is discussing to issue an invitation (to Ukraine) in the short term. But as always, we will continue to talk to our friends in Ukraine about how they move toward unity.

Julian Smith’s statements come while the President of Ukraine had previously openly announced his 5-point victory plan, which includes inviting Ukraine to join NATO.
