Russia’s support for increasing the permanent members of the Security Council
The Russian Foreign Minister says that more countries should be appointed as core members of the Security Council.
According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News quoted by Tass, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov supported the joining of new members to the UN Security Council.
The Russian Foreign Minister stated in an interview that Russia believes that Brazil, India and African countries should be permanently present in the UN Security Council, instead of having a representative. The universal majority in the Security Council should be guaranteed.
Lavrov said: Countries like India, Brazil, as well as African representatives should be permanently present in the Security Council.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin said that Moscow considers consensus on the reform of the UN Security Council important.
