reported by Mehr News Agency quoted by Politico, Mark Rutte, the new Secretary General of NATO, claimed that North Korean soldiers have been sent to the areas under the control of Ukraine in the “Kursk” region to help Russia in the war against Ukraine.
Rute claimed immediately after the meeting with a senior official of the South Korean intelligence service: I can confirm that North Korean troops have been sent to Russia and North Korean army units have been stationed in the Kursk region.
He also added that today he will call South Korean President Yoon Seok-yul and Ukrainian Defense Minister Rostam Umerov.
South Korea’s intelligence agency claimed last Friday that Pyongyang “sent a large number of troops to help Russia” and further claimed that 1,500 North Korean special forces They are currently present in one of the bases of the Russian army in the Far East and are preparing themselves for the war against Ukraine.
The representative of North Korea said in one of the meetings of the UN General Assembly about this claim: Regarding the so-called military cooperation with Russia, my delegation (North Korea) does not think that it is necessary to comment on have such baseless and clichéd rumors.
Russia has not confirmed the sending of troops from North Korea to Moscow and at the same time has defended the military cooperation between the two countries. After South Korea’s claim, Seoul summoned Moscow’s ambassador and Russia’s diplomatic representative also emphasized that cooperation between Russia and North Korea is not against South Korea’s national security interests.
NATO had not previously approved the deployment of troops from North Korea to Russia, but together with the United States, it claimed that the truth of this claim would cause a dangerous escalation of the long-term war in Ukraine.
