Hamas official: The ceasefire proposal of Egypt and Qatar is not enough
reported by Mehr News Agency, a senior member of Hamas told Al Jazeera that the movement has received proposals from Egypt and Qatar for a ceasefire of several days, an increase in humanitarian aid and a partial exchange of prisoners.
He stated that these proposals do not include a permanent stop to the aggression of the occupying regime, the withdrawal of Zionist forces from Gaza, or the return of refugees to their homes.
The Hamas official added that these proposals do not meet the basic needs of the Palestinian people, including security, aid, reconstruction and reopening of the crossings, especially the Rafah crossing.
He pointed out that Hamas has emphasized the demands of the Palestinian people, including the permanent suspension of the ceasefire, the withdrawal of the occupiers, the return of the refugees and the lifting of the siege.
According to this official, the Hamas movement also emphasizes the necessity of providing the necessary conditions for living and rebuilding the damaged areas and an exchange that can reduce the suffering of the prisoners.
He added that Hamas is ready to consider any proposal or negotiation in order to achieve these goals and implement Security Council Resolution 2735.
