According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency, quoting Rashatoudi, media sources are reporting the Cyprus government’s plan to join the NATO military alliance.
A Greek newspaper reported that Cyprus has shared a long-term plan with the United States on how it believes it can join NATO.
According to this Greek media, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides discussed overcoming differences with Ankara in his meeting with US President Joe Biden at the end of October. And he has discussed joining NATO with him.
The president of Cyprus has also called for the change of various American policies towards Cyprus, including the lifting of the arms trade embargo. A ban that, according to this Greek media, exists only on paper.
According to this media report, the Cypriot government is also looking to train its national guard from America and increase investment in military infrastructure.
