Cold weather and rapid depletion of European gas reserves
According to Mehr reporter Quoting from Tass, the statistics of the European gas storage infrastructure indicate that the premature cooling of the weather has caused the European countries to actively harvest as much of the gas stored in this continent as possible.
In general, since the beginning of the cold season in Europe, gas extraction has been 40% more than the same period last year. The price of gas in Europe is now around 500 dollars per thousand cubic meters.
While Russia exports 42 million cubic meters of gas to Europe daily through the pipeline passing through Ukraine, European countries have withdrawn 471 million cubic meters from their gas reserves in just one day.
Currently, 87.8% of the European gas storage capacity is full, and this figure is 2.2% less than the average of the last 5 years. In fact, 97.6 billion cubic meters of gas are stored in European gas storage warehouses.
While the volume of gas input to European gas storages in November has reached the lowest level in the last 12 years, gas extraction from these sources is at its maximum.
For this year, the cold season in Europe started 10 days earlier than last year, and European countries have taken 9 billion cubic meters of gas from their stored reserves since then.
