Politico: The Pentagon is worried about the cost of intercepting missiles and drones in Yemen

According to Fars News Agency International Group, “Paltico” website reported on Wednesday morning that the US Department of Defense is concerned about the increasing and exorbitant cost of intercepting and shooting down drones and missiles fired by the Yemeni army.

Paltico, while pointing to 38 interceptions by US Navy ships, wrote: “A $2 million missile is used to intercept a $2,000 Yemeni drone.”

This website explained by quoting Pentagon officials: “The problem of the cost of shooting down Yemeni drones must be solved and the United States must consider cheaper options.” A senior US official said that 19 countries, including Arab governments, have joined an international task force to protect shipping in the Red Sea.

The Working Group on the Protection of Shipping in the Red Sea added: “The situation is complicated for the Arab countries because of the belief that the coalition is designed to protect ships associated with Israel.”
