Pederson: The increase in tensions in some areas of Syria is worrying
According to Mehr News Agency to Quoting from Al-Arabiya network, Gir Pederson, the special representative of the United Nations for Syrian affairs, expressed concern about the increase in tensions in some areas of Syria during the closed session of the Security Council.
He emphasized the necessity of “restoring the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Syria and stopping all violent actions”.
Pederson noted that “the basic principles of Security Council Resolution 2254 are widely agreed upon.”
He added: The political transition should be done by the Syrian people themselves and should be accompanied by the guarantee of a reliable, non-sectarian government, constitutional reforms, free and fair elections, and the participation of women.
Pederson last week called for “free and fair elections” after the end of the transitional period in Syria after about three months, while expressing hope for a “solution”. political” with autonomous Kurdish government.
Pederson told reporters in Damascus: “We need urgent humanitarian aid, but we need to make sure that we can rebuild Syria and see economic recovery, and we hope to see the beginning of Let’s be a process that leads to the end of sanctions.
He also believes that “there are still challenges in some areas, and one of the biggest challenges is the situation in the northeast of the country.”
