Iran: According to international law, America is definitely responsible for the martyrdom of Sardar Soleimani
Iran's representation in Geneva announced in a letter that according to international laws, the US government bears the definitive international responsibility for this crime and international wrongdoing. |
Sardar Soleimani played an essential role in the fight against terrorism, especially in the destruction of ISIS and helping to establish peace and stability in the region and internationally. Despite this role and status, the American government assassinated the martyr Sardar Soleimani in a criminal act that violates the basic rules and principles of international law and international human rights law.
The illegal and wrongful action of the then American authorities to publicly assassinate an internationally recognized anti-terrorism hero and human rights defender confirms America’s hypocrisy and double standard approach. This criminal act, which was a serious violation of human rights, including the right to life, was carried out in an organized manner.
According to international law, the US government bears the definitive international responsibility for this crime and international wrongdoing. Justice will be fully implemented.
Several countries and more than a hundred people were involved in this crime. America as the main agent and Germany as the supplier of the American drone base to facilitate the attack will be especially responsible for this terrorist act.
In addition, the permanent immunity granted to American and Israeli individuals who participated in targeted killings granted, has emboldened terrorists and fueled more terrorist acts, mainly in our region.
In the most recent incident, a US-backed Israeli terrorist attack led to the assassination of Seyed Razi Mousavi, Iran’s top military adviser, on December 25, 2023, outside of any armed conflict in Damascus, the Syrian capital. In addition, two other Iranian military advisers were victims of targeted killings organized by the Israeli regime on December 2, 2023.
It is obvious that the pattern of state terrorism will continue unless relevant international organizations take effective measures to hold the Israeli terrorist regime and its supporters accountable. Failure to do so will not only endanger the Iranian authorities, but will expose other countries to these reprehensible crimes along with the crimes that are going on in Gaza.
The position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this regard is clarified in the attached note published as a UN Security Council document.
The human rights institutions of the United Nations, including special institutions, and especially the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations, are fully expected to intervene effectively and use every lever at their disposal to express their opinion and manage In expressing regret for the vicious assassination of Sardar Soleimani and other Iranian victims of terrorism, act free from any selection and double standards and punish the perpetrators of these criminals.”
