Washington and Kyiv agree to establish Ukraine reconstruction fund
U.S. Treasury Announces Agreement with Ukraine to Establish Reconstruction Fund
Teh U.S. Treasury Department announced that Washington and Kyiv have reached an agreement to create a joint investment fund for Ukraine’s reconstruction, according to Qatar’s Al Jazeera,as reported by Mehr News Agency.
The U.S. treasury claimed this agreement sends a clear message to Moscow that the Trump administration is committed to advancing peace efforts aimed at achieving a free and sovereign Ukraine.
In related news, Yulia Svyrydenko, Ukraine’s Economy Minister, confirmed that the U.S. and Ukraine signed an agreement to establish a joint fund for the country’s reconstruction. She stated the fund would be created in cooperation with Washington and aims to attract global investments into Ukraine.
Svyrydenko emphasized that under the agreement, Kyiv retains full ownership and control over all natural resources within its land and waters.”Only the Ukrainian government will decide which resources are extracted and in which regions—this is explicitly outlined in the agreement,” she said. The fund’s structure follows a 50/50 model, with joint management between Kyiv and Washington.
Meanwhile,Bloomberg reported that the deal includes concessions for the U.S., such as access to Ukraine’s natural resources—including aluminum, graphite, oil, and natural gas—and opportunities for new investment projects in these sectors.
Earlier today, Axios cited a Ukrainian deputy economy minister stating that Kyiv expects a mineral cooperation agreement with Washington to be finalized today after overcoming last-minute hurdles. The official clarified this deal was not designed as compensation for U.S. support but rather as groundwork enabling America to benefit from its defense assistance through investments.
U.S Treasury Secretary told Fox News: “The U.S.-Ukraine deal is a win-win for both sides.” He claimed Trump seeks economic leverage in Ukraine through this pact while pushing Moscow toward negotiations.
