Hamas hybrid ambushes the trump card of war in Gaza
An international affairs expert stated that despite 18 months of Zionist occupation in Gaza and the dropping of 100,000 tons of explosives on the region, Hamas continues to carry out prosperous ambushes in Gaza.
According to a report by Mehr News Agency, Faisal al-duwairi, a military and strategic affairs analyst for the region, told Al Jazeera that the video released by Hamas forces showcasing their combined ambush operation “Gates of Hell 2” reflects real clashes. These engagements unfolded across multiple stages—luring Zionist forces into traps and engaging them—demonstrating Hamas’s high precision in executing ambushes.
Al-Duwairi emphasized in his analysis of the video that the various phases of the operation reveal meticulous planning by Palestinian resistance forces for such ambushes.
The military expert highlighted Hamas’s combat infrastructure, stressing that even after over 100,000 tons of explosives were dropped and 18 months of Zionist occupation, Hamas fighters persist in ground-level resistance using complex tunnel networks.
Citing international academic reports like West Point, which state only 25% of Gaza’s tunnels have been discovered, he noted that Hamas militants continue operations within undiscovered tunnels.
He outlined resistance tactics during the war, including visual surveillance, intelligence gathering, multiple ambush setups, and rigging buildings/tunnel entrances with explosives—tactics exploiting human errors by Zionist soldiers.
Despite acknowledging advanced Israeli counter-ambush measures (e.g., trained explosive-sniffing dogs), al-Duwairi asserted that Palestinian resistance still executes effective ambushes.
Regarding close-quarters clashes in Rafah, he said evacuating a 75-square-kilometer area between Morag and Salah al-Din Street enabled direct battlefield engagement for Palestinian fighters.
