Putin invites Arab leaders to attend first Russia-Arab summit
the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, reported that Interfax quoted the Kremlin as stating that Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on Arab leaders and the Secretary-General of the Arab League to participate in the first Russia-Arab summit on October 15.
Interfax cited Putin as saying: “I am confident this summit will further strengthen mutually beneficial and multilateral cooperation between our countries, and also help identify ways to ensure peace, security, and stability in the Middle East and North Africa.”
The Arab League, a regional organization comprising Middle Eastern countries and parts of Africa, has 22 members committed to political, economic, and military cooperation in the region.
Putin’s invitation follows last week’s four-day visit by U.S. President Donald Trump to the region.During this trip, Washington announced several agreements—including Saudi Arabia’s $600 billion commitment to invest in America, a $142 billion arms deal with Riyadh, and a partnership with the UAE on artificial intelligence.
