Hungary opposes Ukraine’s EU membership bid
Hungary’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister oppose Ukraine’s EU membership bid.
webangah News Agency reports that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated on Sunday that Ukraine’s potential EU membership poses a threat too his contry and “cannot be allowed to happen.”
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó reinforced this position, calling ukraine “the most corrupt country in Europe” and warning that Kyiv’s accession woudl open Brussels’ doors to organized crime.
The statements come amid reports that the European Union is exploring ways to circumvent Hungary’s objections during Ukraine’s accession negotiations.
