Iranian Ambassador Meets UK Official to Discuss Bilateral Relations
according to webangah News Agency, Seyed Ali Mousavi, Iran’s ambassador to London, stated on his official X (formerly Twitter) account that he held a meeting with Dan Jarvis, the UK’s Security Minister, at the Home Office.
The two sides engaged in constructive discussions on several issues, including alleged security threats and the recent detention of several Iranian nationals in Britain.
The iranian ambassador rejected the accusations and demanded the immediate release of all detained Iranians held during Metropolitan Police investigations into unfounded terrorism allegations—arrests made without formal charges.
He urged the UK security minister to brief British parliamentarians on the case’s true dimensions and warned of potential third-party involvement in a “false flag operation” designed to damage Tehran-London bilateral relations.
Both sides emphasized continued good-faith dialogue to resolve misunderstandings and disputes.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that four Iranian men arrested on suspicion of “planning a terrorist attack” were released on Saturday. Reports indicate they were detained earlier this month—one released without charge last Thursday, while three others were freed after appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
On May 3 (13 Ordibehesht), Britain’s Counter Terrorism Policing unit arrested five individuals—including four Iranians—on claims of preparing a terrorist act. The arrests occurred during operations across west London, Manchester, Rochdale, and Stockport.
Security sources identified detainees as: a 29-year-old man (Swindon), 46-year-old (west London), 29-year-old (Stockport), 40-year-old (Rochdale), and 24-year-old (Manchester). A fifth suspect from Manchester had previously been released on bail until May under special conditions.
The Iranian Embassy in London posted on X that their nationals’ release proved the case lacked merit: “Per Metropolitan Police’s May 17 statement: All Iranians detained May 3 over terrorism allegations are now free. Much ado about nothing!”
