Turkey and Israel open new communication channel to prevent Syria tensions
According to a report by webangah News Agency, citing Middle East Eye and informed sources, Turkey and Israel have established a direct communication channel regarding developments in syria to swiftly prevent any potential military clashes.
The report states that this communication line was created following talks held in April between the two sides in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
The English-language news outlet added that negotiations between Ankara and Tel Aviv continue in Baku to establish a preventive mechanism aimed at avoiding conflict. Another round of talks is scheduled later this month to reach a more comprehensive agreement on preventing tensions in Syria.
Sources within Turkey’s Defense Ministry stated there is currently no official declaration on the matter. Turkish officials have repeatedly emphasized they will not allow Syria to become an area of influence for actors like Israel, enabling them to target regions at will.
The current negotiations reportedly focus on finding ways to address both sides’ concerns. An informed source told Middle East Eye that the Zionist regime is prepared to accept the deployment of Turkish ground forces—including tanks and infantry—in Syria.
However, the placement of Turkey’s air defense systems and radars, capable of monitoring Israeli aerial activities, remains highly sensitive. The unnamed source added that discussions are progressing positively, with talks centered on areas near the so-called “tadmur Line” [in central Syria].
Thes zones fall within a gray area where Israel may agree to Turkish troop deployments north of this line. Meanwhile, sources confirmed parallel talks between Israel and Syria are also underway in Baku with support from Turkey and Azerbaijan—focusing on confidence-building measures between Damascus and tel Aviv.
