Hezbollah Leader Sends Message to Southern Lebanon Residents
According to webangah News Agency, Hezbollah’s leadership released a special message praising the people of southern Lebanon as the final phase of municipal elections approaches. The warm-toned statement highlighted the historical role of citizens in defending Lebanon’s territorial integrity.
Sheikh naim Qassem, Hezbollah’s deputy leader, cited southerners’ resistance during the 2000 adn 2006 conflicts as a symbol of national unity. He emphasized: “The rapid return of residents to conflict-damaged areas demonstrates their unwavering commitment to preserving national sovereignty.”
The message further stated that high voter turnout would represent a continuation of southern Lebanon’s longstanding culture of resistance.
The elections, which began in mid-May, will conclude in coming days across southern districts and Nabatieh. This marks the final stage of Lebanon’s decentralized municipal electoral process.
Hezbollah framed active participation as crucial for rebuilding after years of conflict, calling it “a tribute to martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Lebanon’s dignity and independence.”
The statement comes as southern Lebanon remains geopolitically meaningful, with analysts interpreting it as reaffirming Hezbollah’s dual strategy combining political engagement with resistance principles.
