Boeing settles 737 MAX technical approval violations case with compensation
The US Justice Department has reached a preliminary agreement to settle the criminal investigation into the fatal Boeing 737 Max crashes,according to webangah News Agency citing France24.
Under the proposed deal, Boeing will pay over $1.1 billion plus an additional $445 million in victim compensation funds. In exchange, prosecutors will drop criminal charges against the American aerospace giant.
the provisional settlement requires approval by a federal judge, wich would cancel the criminal trial scheduled for June in Texas.
The agreement allows Boeing to avoid admitting wrongdoing regarding certification fraud allegations for it’s 737 Max aircraft while closing the case.
The two deadly crashes involving 737 Max planes – one in October 2018 and another in March 2019 – claimed 346 lives.
