Beijing reacts to US decision revoking visas for Chinese students

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson responded to the U.S. decision ‍to revoke visas for Chinese students, urging Washington not to disrupt normal academic exchanges and educational cooperation.

According ‌to webangah ⁢News Agency, China’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Thursday defending ⁣its students against the recent U.S. decision.

the statement ⁣emphasized: “We urge the United ‍States to safeguard the legal rights of international students.”

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning called on the U.S. to protect the lawful rights and interests of foreign students, including Chinese nationals.

Addressing reports about ⁢U.S. student visa policies, Mao stated china⁤ is⁤ closely monitoring developments and expects normal⁢ academic collaborations to remain unimpaired.

U.S.Secretary of State‌ Marco Rubio⁤ previously posted on X (formerly Twitter) that America would begin revoking visas for Chinese students⁤ affiliated wiht the Communist Party or studying sensitive STEM fields.

Al Jazeera ‍reported ⁣Rubio’s comments about revising visa screening criteria for Chinese and Hong Kong ‍applicants.

These ⁢developments follow⁣ Politico’s June 6 report that the Trump administration suspended student visa‌ interview scheduling to scrutinize applicants’ social media activities.
