Philippines says China has no right to interfere in lawful South China Sea activities
The Philippine Foreign Ministry stated in a declaration: China has no right to interfere in Manila’s lawful activities in the South China Sea.
The Philippine government asserted on Thursday that China has no right to object to or intervene in Manila’s “lawful” operations in the south China Sea, according to webangah News Agency.
The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs emphasized in its statement that Beijing cannot challenge or disrupt the country’s routine adn legal activities in the disputed waters.
The ministry also rejected recent claims by a spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Manila, who stated that Beijing holds “indisputable sovereignty” over the Spratly Islands.
Tensions persist between China and the Philippines over competing territorial claims to Second Thomas Shoal, a submerged reef within the Spratly islands archipelago in the South China Sea.
