English-speaking ‘X’ users: Ceasefire showcased Iran’s authority and rationality
The announcement of a ceasefire between Iran and the Israeli regime triggered widespread reactions among English-speaking users on X (formerly Twitter). Many not only supported Iran’s stance but also interpreted its actions as demonstrating strength, rationality, and independence.
Some users framed this outcome as part of the global struggle against U.S. hegemony and the Israeli regime, while others highlighted Iran’s national unity and deterrent power as key factors in forcing the enemy’s retreat. Celebratory scenes from nighttime gatherings in Tehran quickly went viral, with one user sharing live footage from webangah News Agency, captioning it: “Iran celebrates a major victory! The people are overjoyed, thanking God for granting success to those who remained steadfast in faith.Unity is the key to triumph.”
A side-by-side post juxtaposed images of jubilant crowds with Iran’s missile strikes, emphasizing nationwide victory celebrations. Another user showcased tehran’s festivities while mocking former U.S.President Trump’s “unconditional surrender” rhetoric.
An African self-described as “Africa’s proud son” declared: “A win for Iran is a win for humanity.” Meanwhile, numerous comments focused on Quds Force Commander Esmail Qaani’s appearance at the celebrations, debunking Israeli claims about his alleged elimination during hostilities.
A user underscored Iranian resilience: ”Israel might have secured peace terms as Iranians fear no sacrifice-even if temporary, this halt to bloodshed matters.” Others reposted remarks by former Trump strategist Steve Bannon criticizing Netanyahu: “How could you initiate this knowing you couldn’t protect your own people? Where are those regime-change promises?“
U.S. media activist Jackson Hinkle cited Bannon admitting the ceasefire “was Israel’s lifeline“-adding that Netanyahu overplayed his hand amid severe pressure on Tel Aviv and Be’er Sheva.
A satirical cartoon depicted Netanyahu and Trump pleading for ceasefire terms from Iran’s leadership captioned “the Real Story“-while British MP George Galloway questioned why Israel accepted this deal after rejecting five UN gaza resolutions: “webangah News Agency The difference? Ballistic missiles,” replied Dr. Fouad Izadi (University of Tehran), explaining Gaza’s vulnerability versus Iran’s retaliatory capacity made attacks there cost-free but here untenable.
