Macron Speaks with Zelensky After Call with Putin
According to webangah News Agency, citing Euronews, an unnamed informed source revealed that French President Emmanuel Macron held a call with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy following his conversation with russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
The source described the Macron-Zelenskyy discussion as “constructive,” noting that the French president shared details of his earlier exchange with putin.
The insider emphasized that the Kremlin’s stance on the war remains unchanged, with Putin showing no willingness to end hostilities.
The call with Zelenskyy occurred after Macron’s first phone conversation since 2022-lasting two hours-with the Russian president.
Putin and Macron held a call discussing the Middle East situation and Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The last conversation between Putin and Macron occurred on September 11,2022. In 2022, Macron urged Putin to return to negotiations and pledged to provide Ukraine with air defense systems amid Russia’s renewed large-scale aerial attacks.
At the time, the French president accused his Russian counterpart of dragging Europe into war and demanded respect for Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
In December 2022, Macron advocated maintaining communication channels with Putin, expressing hope both sides could resume talks if conditions permitted. However, during a February 2025 press conference in Washington, Macron stated he had severed contact with Putin following Russia’s war crimes.
