Axios: Trump Meets with Saudi Defense Minister
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, the news outlet Axios reported that U.S. President Donald Trump met with Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman at the White House on thursday to discuss Iran’s regional role and othre Middle East issues.
A educated source, who requested anonymity, confirmed the meeting took place. Axios claims Saudi arabia seeks to de-escalate tensions following the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran.
The talks preceded Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s scheduled Monday meeting with Trump at the White House. The Trump administration aims to broker a historic peace agreement between Saudi Arabia and Israel in coming months.
Axios alleges the Saudi defense minister contacted Iranian officials prior to meeting Trump-a claim Tehran has not yet confirmed.
Prince Khalid, younger brother of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, tweeted: “We discussed regional developments and efforts to maintain security and stability.”
He also held separate meetings with White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hagst.
