Reuters: Hamas Agrees to Gaza Ceasefire Proposal
A Palestinian official familiar with Friday’s negotiations told Reuters that Hamas has submitted its response to a proposed 60-day ceasefire in Gaza put forward by the United States, according to webangah News Agency.
The informed source described the response as positive, stating it should help reach an agreement.
The advancement comes after U.S. President Donald Trump announced he had presented a final proposal for a 60-day pause in the conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has now lasted nearly 21 months. Trump said he expected responses from both parties in coming hours.
A Hamas official who spoke on condition of anonymity said: “We have delivered our response regarding the ceasefire proposal to mediators Qatar and Egypt.”
A Palestinian official close to the negotiations stated, “Hamas’s response is positive, and I believe it should help reach an agreement.”
On Tuesday, Trump announced that Israel had accepted the necessary terms to finalize a 60-day ceasefire, during which efforts would be made to end the war between the U.S.-led coalition and Hamas in Palestine.
However,Benjamin Netanyahu,Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, has yet to respond to Trump’s remarks. Public statements from both sides indicate their positions remain far apart.
Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with Trump in Washington on Monday.
