EU Commission and Council Presidents to Meet Chinese President in Beijing
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, China’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that on the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union, a high-level meeting will take place this week between senior officials from Beijing and Brussels.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that Ursula von der Leyen,president of the European Commission,and Antonio Costa,President of the European Council,will visit China on Thursday to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
On the same day, Chinese premier Li Qiang will jointly chair the 25th Beijing-Brussels Summit alongside von der Leyen and Costa.
This summit takes place amid escalating global trade tensions. According to Reuters, Beijing aims to establish closer economic and political ties with the EU as a hedge against uncertainties in its relationship with Washington.
