UNRWA and WHO Issue Warning on Gaza Situation
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and the World Health Association (WHO) have issued urgent warnings about the critical conditions in Gaza.
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, UNRWA stressed that immediate solutions must be found to prevent more deaths from hunger.
Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA’s Commissioner-General, emphasized on Friday that new measures must be implemented swiftly to address the crisis in Gaza. Without prompt action, more people will continue to die from starvation.
He added that civilians-especially children-remain trapped across Gaza amid relentless bombings and a severe hunger crisis.
A WHO spokesperson called for reopening border crossings and allowing 600 aid trucks daily into Gaza. They stressed the urgent need for a continuous supply of food and medicine for residents.
The spokesperson highlighted agreement with humanitarian partners that conditions are rapidly deteriorating. Months ago, they warned of an impending famine. They noted that airlifts cannot solve the crisis alone; only ground aid convoys entering Gaza can provide a real solution. The situation is a humanitarian disaster that can only be alleviated by sustained access for relief efforts.
