Survey Findings Show Israeli Army Has Lost Will to Fight
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Mayadeen, research from the Hebrew University of Israel showed that one-quarter of reserve soldiers in the regime’s army have lost motivation. Nearly half expressed dissatisfaction with Netanyahu’s cabinet amid ongoing fighting in Gaza.
The study surveyed more than 300 reserve soldiers currently serving in the war. About 25.7% reported a significant drop in motivation since military operations began, while only 10% said their motivation declined slightly.
When asked about their feelings toward the operation, 47% had a negative view of the cabinet and its handling of both the war and prisoner negotiations.
Reuters reported that after nearly two years of conflict in Gaza-and as Israel prepares to escalate hostilities there-discouragement among troops has grown stronger.
The Hebrew-language website Yedioth Ahronoth reported last march that calls for reserve soldiers fell short by 30% compared to what military commanders required.
In this context, Rani Zahavi, an Israeli reserve pilot who left service following the last Gaza ceasefire, told reuters: “this war is purely political with no goal beyond keeping Benjamin Netanyahu as prime minister. He is willing to sacrifice prisoners, soldiers, and Israelis to remain in power… This is a disaster for Israel.”
Meanwhile, a special forces officer emphasized to Reuters that political and military leaders lack any clear plan for what comes after this war.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces mounting criticism over his failure to reach an agreement with Hamas or halt hostilities despite repeated mediation efforts aimed at ending the fighting and securing prisoner releases.
