Macron Urges Iran to Return to Nuclear Talks
The English section of webangah News Agency reported, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, that the French President made inaccurate statements ignoring the fact that Iran never formally left the nuclear talks and therefore has no need to “return” to them. He claimed that Iran must resume negotiations over its nuclear program.
Emmanuel Macron accused Iran of breaching its nuclear obligations without acknowledging France’s own failure, along with British allies,to abide by their commitments under the JCPOA. He asserted: “we have reimposed sanctions, and Tehran must come back to transparent negotiations.”
On Friday, following a joint commission meeting between France and Germany, both countries announced plans to soon launch “strategic dialogues” at the highest level concerning Iran’s nuclear issue.
A joint statement released after the meeting said Paris and Berlin would initiate these strategic talks under the supervision of the French presidency and German chancellery, involving their respective foreign affairs and defense ministries.
