China Reacts to US Military Presence Near Venezuela
According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr news Agency and Anadolu, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian condemned the dispatch and stationing of American forces in the Caribbean near Venezuelan waters.
lin stressed that U.S. military presence in the Caribbean “severely undermines regional peace” and warned against any interference in this Latin American country’s internal matters.
He added: “the U.S. actions seriously damage regional peace and security, constitute a grave violation of the security, sovereignty, legitimate rights, and interests of other countries, and also a serious breach of international law.”
In late August, Washington deployed U.S. navy destroyers USS Gravely, USS Jason dunham, and USS Sampson close to Venezuela’s coast.
In response, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced he had mobilized 4.5 million people as part of paramilitary forces throughout the country,ready to confront any attack.
Yesterday, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López stated that the United States had conducted aerial reconnaissance missions over the Caribbean region near Venezuela.Meanwhile, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth declared that America’s military is prepared for “regime change” operations in Venezuela.
The senior Chinese diplomat further accused Washington of using the pretext of “combating drug trafficking” to deploy troops near Venezuela while sinking vessels and seizing Venezuelan fishing boats-actions that have escalated tensions in this region. Lin noted that Beijing consistently supports enhancing international cooperation against transnational crime.
He emphasized: “We oppose unilateral use of force and any foreign troop intervention in Venezuela’s internal affairs under any justification or pretense.” China urges the United States to comply with international law by not disrupting maritime security or freedom nor infringing on Venezuelan interests-and calls for stabilization of peace and security.
