UNIFIL Responds to Continued Israeli Regime Aggression in Southern Lebanon
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) deployed in southern Lebanon has described recent Israeli airstrikes as violations of Security Council Resolution 1701 and threats to the fragile stability of the area, according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency.
UNIFIL called on the Israeli military to promptly halt all air attacks on Lebanon and fully adhere to agreements concerning withdrawal from Lebanese territory.
The statement emphasized that continued provocations endanger efforts aimed at restoring peace in the region. It urged all parties to comply with Security Council Resolution 1701.
Due to the israeli strikes, UNIFIL units were forced to abandon two positions near Qallawiyah Tower in Deir Qifa and relocate to safer areas, according to the force’s report.
