Scotland Calls on England to Impose Additional Sanctions on Israel

According to the English section ⁣of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr​ News⁢ Agency and Al Jazeera,Scotland’s Prime Minister John Swinney said in a statement ⁢today,sunday: “I welcome the‌ UK’s recognition ​of‌ the State of Palestine,but this recognition must ⁢not be⁢ conditional.”

He added: “The recognition⁢ of the State of Palestine is a⁣ historic moment that should have‌ happened much earlier. The ⁣so-called ⁢two-state solution is⁤ the only way for‌ Palestinians to achieve​ a life of peace, prosperity, and security. We ​call⁢ on the UK government to impose further​ sanctions on Israel and end military cooperation with it.”

this follows ‍Swinney’s recent remarks that silence and inaction towards⁢ what he described as⁣ Israel’s genocide in ‍Gaza must not be ⁤an option.

He said: “Israel must be held accountable through ‍trials and face sanctions.”

An independent ⁤UN-backed international ‌inquiry committee announced last Tuesday that Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. The committee officially used‍ the term genocide.

The report stated ‍that ​Israeli officials⁣ and affiliated actors committed five ⁤acts ‌related to genocide in Gaza.
