Scotland Calls on England to Impose Additional Sanctions on Israel
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera,Scotland’s Prime Minister John Swinney said in a statement today, sunday: “I welcome the UK’s recognition of the State of Palestine, but this recognition must not be conditional.”
He added: “The recognition of the State of Palestine is a historic moment that should have happened much earlier. The so-called two-state solution is the only way for Palestinians to achieve a life of peace, prosperity, and security. We call on the UK government to impose further sanctions on Israel and end military cooperation with it.”
this follows Swinney’s recent remarks that silence and inaction towards what he described as Israel’s genocide in Gaza must not be an option.
He said: “Israel must be held accountable through trials and face sanctions.”
An independent UN-backed international inquiry committee announced last Tuesday that Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. The committee officially used the term genocide.
The report stated that Israeli officials and affiliated actors committed five acts related to genocide in Gaza.
