Saudi Arabia: The Only Path to Lasting Peace Is Establishing an Independent State of Palestine
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Saudi Arabia’s official news agency (SPA), Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, representing Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and co-chairing the opening session of the International Conference on resolving the Palestinian Issue and implementing the Two-State Solution at United Nations headquarters in New York alongside France, emphasized that the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region is through establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
In his speech, bin Farhan conveyed greetings and best wishes for success from Saudi Arabia’s king and crown prince. He also expressed appreciation for the efforts of French President Emmanuel Macron, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, and UN General Assembly President Csaba Kőrösi in organizing this meeting.
Highlighting ongoing crimes by Israel against Gaza and the West Bank along with repeated attacks on Jerusalem, he stated that Israel’s recent aggression towards Qatar reflects a continued hostile approach endangering regional and international security and stability.
The Saudi foreign minister welcomed French President Macron’s historic position recognizing Palestine. He noted support from 142 countries for the “New York Declaration,” viewing it as a clear sign of global determination to uphold Palestinian rights.
Bin Farhan affirmed Riyadh’s commitment to work closely with France and othre nations to follow up on conference outcomes. He stressed calling for an end to war in Gaza, halting Israel’s unilateral actions, and creating an independent Palestinian state within 1967 borders centered on East Jerusalem.
He further urged all countries to recognize Palestine officially in order to advance efforts toward implementing a two-state solution and securing enduring peace across the region.
