UK Adds 71 New Targets to Iran Nuclear-Related Sanctions
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, Britain declared on Monday that it has added 71 new entries to its sanctions list over Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities.
The British goverment took this step following hostile and anti-Iranian actions by the United Nations and the European Union aimed at reinstating sanctions against Tehran based on unfounded and illegitimate claims. Several individuals and entities linked to Iran were sanctioned today as part of this move.
The updated sanctions list includes senior officials involved in Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, along with key financial and energy institutions.
Those subject to UK sanctions face asset freezes, financial restrictions, and travel bans.
This announcement comes despite Tehran and Moscow asserting that reactivating sanctions through the snapback mechanism is illegal. They cited Iran’s compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 2231 and the 2015 agreement as grounds for their position.
