Moscow Reports Warmongers Supporting Kyiv Obstructing Progress After Putin-Trump Meeting
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Reuters via Mehr News Agency, Sergei Ryabkov, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, believes that the drive to reach a peaceful agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine-sparked after the August summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and then-U.S. president Donald Trump-has largely faded.
Trump and putin met on August 15 at a U.S. airbase in Anchorage, Alaska, aiming to halt Europe’s deadliest ground war as World War II.
The American president, who had previously suggested Kyiv should cede some territory for peace with Moscow, later expressed frustration with Putin several times after their meeting. Recently, he referred to Russia as a “paper tiger.”
ryabkov accused European powers supporting Ukraine of undermining peace efforts. He stated: “Regrettably, we must acknowledge that the strong momentum generated by the Anchorage summit in favor of reaching an agreement has been mostly wasted due to destructive activities primarily carried out by Europeans.”
He also emphasized that supplying American Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine would represent a “qualitative” change in battlefield conditions.
Earlier this week, Trump said he wants clarity on how Kyiv intends to use these long-range missiles before approving their delivery because he does not want escalation.
In February 2022, Putin launched a special military operation by sending tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine. The goal was to end what he called Kyiv’s oppression of Russian-speaking populations in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region-a move that triggered the biggest confrontation between Russia and the West since the Cold War.
