Israeli Troops Begin Withdrawing from Gaza City as Refugees Return
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, an al Jazeera correspondent has reported a gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops from several neighborhoods in Gaza City.
The report states that displaced residents have begun returning to areas including al-Nasr, al-Tuffah, and al-Saftawi.
This development follows the approval by the Israeli cabinet hours earlier of a ceasefire agreement and an official end to hostilities in Gaza, which has now entered implementation.
The plan received majority support; though, five Israeli ministers-including Ben Gvir and Smotrich-opposed it.
Accordingly, within 24 hours, the Israeli army will pull back to agreed-upon yellow lines marking designated boundaries.
Following the withdrawal of occupying forces, Palestinian prisoners will be released within 72 hours alongside an agreed number of released Israeli captives.
Separately, Reuters quoted senior U.S. officials as stating that America will deploy 200 troops as part of a joint special force aimed at maintaining stability in Gaza.
This U.S. contingent will form part of a special unit including representatives from Egypt’s armed forces, Qatar, and turkey tasked with ensuring stability in Gaza.
U.S. officials claimed these forces would be stationed within Israel proper with the objective of facilitating humanitarian aid delivery into the Gaza Strip.
