Iraqi Foreign Minister: Baghdad will decide whether the Americans stay or go

Fars News Agency International Group; Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hossein said today (Thursday, January 11) in an interview with “Al Arabiya” and “Al Hadith” channels, pointing out that the forces of the international coalition led by the United States are present in Iraq at the invitation of Baghdad, saying: “It is Iraq that needs He added: “We don’t want our relations with Washington to be disturbed, we must prepare the internal environment before starting negotiations for the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq.” and according to the results of the negotiations, the necessary decision regarding the withdrawal and the timing of this withdrawal will be taken.” He went to Washington before a military and security delegation and after some time the process of negotiations with Washington was stopped, but the dialogue continues and soon we will announce the date of the start of these negotiations and at what level and in what form they will be held.

According to Fouad Hossein, Baghdad has assured Washington that it is “committed to calm” and considers the recent events regarding attacks and counter-attacks unacceptable.

He also said that the attacks against American military bases should be investigated by both sides and that the Prime Minister of Iraq always tries to communicate with all sides to establish peace in the country.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister stated that the situation in the region changed after the Gaza war and national and regional issues got mixed up, stating: “The decision to go to war is based on the constitution and approved laws.” It is in the country and not a decision outside the government. In addition, the decision to start a war is a dangerous decision and we as Iraq are not in favor of war and we need security and stability. It is not allowed to violate the security situation in Iraq by any party, whether foreign or domestic.” And this is reflected in the scene of Iraq.
