Far-Right Likely to Win Early Dutch Election

The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency, reported that The Guardian described Wednesday’s early elections in the Netherlands as a defeat for far-right leader Geert Wilders. Despite Wilders’ setback,Dutch politics continue to be dominated by far-right and anti-immigration politicians.
The Guardian noted that after Wilders’ party exited the government and contributed to its collapse, far-right groups, including Wilders’, still hold critically important sway over media outlets and political discourse. This dominance has become especially visible ahead of wednesday’s early vote.
The British outlet added that Dutch media – largely controlled by far-right sympathizers – persistently promote Wilders’ policies and those of other radical right parties even without his direct presence. Moderate parties and some right-wing factions have tacitly normalized these hardline stances in parliament by adopting immigration restrictions championed by far-right groups.
According to The Guardian, even though leftist forces united with the Greens and Labor Party have failed to make a notable impact on media or politics and remain marginalized, it is indeed clear that the far right still commands significant influence in the Netherlands despite Wilders’ governmental defeat. Meanwhile, liberal democratic parties focus more on internal conflicts than confronting the rise of far-right ideologies.
