Jordan Condemns Israeli Settlements in the West Bank

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency and the Palestine Information Center, Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement declaring that holding a tender to build new Israeli settlements in the West Bank constitutes a firmification of occupation. It violates international law and international humanitarian law and disregards the inalienable right of the Palestinian peopel to self-determination, an end to occupation, and establishing an autonomous state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Fouad Al-Majali, spokesperson for jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, read out this statement while firmly condemning Israel’s colonial settlement activities in the West Bank. He stressed that continuing repressive policies against Palestinians alongside persistent violations of international law and United Nations resolutions-especially Security Council Resolution 2334 which denounces any actions aimed at altering demographic composition, identity, or status of territories occupied since 1967-reflects ongoing breaches of international commitments.
Al-Majali also referred to a recent advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice confirming the illegality of Israel’s occupation over Palestinian lands as well as invalidating settlement construction and annexation plans in the West Bank.
He concluded by urging the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities by pressuring Israel to halt these illegal and dangerous measures in the West Bank. Al-Majali emphasized that realizing Palestinians’ legitimate right to establish an independent state is essential for achieving just and lasting peace while ensuring regional security and stability.
