Hezbollah: We Have No Negotiations with the Zionist Enemy

Ihab Hamadeh, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc in Lebanon’s parliament, addressed recent developments and reports about increasing pressure for direct talks between Beirut and Tel Aviv. Speaking to Sputnik Radio, Hamadeh saeid that Hezbollah has not been presented with any negotiation framework.
He highlighted that last year’s ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel was reached through indirect negotiations via intermediaries. Therefore, it is inaccurate to claim that Lebanon now consents to direct talks with the Israeli enemy or intends to pursue such negotiations through all stages.
Hamadeh added that Hezbollah agreed with last year’s ceasefire conditions because it represented a balanced formula favorable for Lebanon. However, moving toward a different negotiation framework now would violate that previous agreement.
Referring to intense pressure on Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, he stated: “Hezbollah’s position is clear: under no circumstances will we negotiate with the Zionists. Even if conditions change, the occupying regime understands only force. The cost of confrontation is far less than surrender.”
The resistance representative stressed that Israel aims to create a buffer zone along Lebanon’s borders and secure its northern front in occupied Palestine. He also described forced displacement of southern Lebanese residents as an ongoing longstanding israeli project.
Hamadeh noted that Israel seeks to annul United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701-and has effectively done so by disregarding all its provisions.
Regarding recent visits by an Egyptian delegation to Lebanon, Hamadeh said prior information had circulated about discussions involving Egypt on strategic weapons in Lebanon under Ma’in’s cover before their arrival in Beirut.
He warned Egypt faces an existential strategic threat distinct from other Arab countries’ circumstances.
The member of parliament concluded by stating there have been no direct meetings between Hezbollah and either the Egyptian delegation or Saudi officials; however, Saudi Arabia’s official stance recognizing Sheikh naim Qassem’s recent speech positively has been conveyed to Hezbollah.
