U.S. Extends National Emergency Status on Iran

Trump⁢ has ⁣extended the national emergency ⁤status regarding Iran,⁤ which includes unilateral sanctions⁣ against the country, for another year.

According to the English section of webangah News‍ Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Al-Youm, U.S. President Donald ⁢Trump has renewed the national emergency⁤ concerning Iran for an additional year.

This decision, which continues unilateral sanctions against⁣ the Islamic Republic, was announced in an official statement published on‍ the ‌Federal Register website. It signals Washington’s persistence in applying economic and political pressure on Tehran.

The statement reads: “Relations with Iran have not ​returned to‌ normal. Therefore,the national emergency ⁣declared on ‌November 14,1979,and ⁣measures taken ​to address it will ⁤remain in effect beyond November 14,2025. This status is extended for one more year.”

The ⁢national⁣ emergency was⁢ originally declared by Jimmy Carter, the thirty-ninth U.S. president. Through‌ Executive Order 12170, he authorized the‍ U.S. Treasury ‍Department to freeze all official Iranian assets ‌within‌ the United States and its foreign subsidiaries-marking the start of extensive economic sanctions against Iran. Additionally, diplomatic‌ relations with Tehran⁤ were severed; trade of goods between both countries-including food and medicine-and travel by American citizens to Iran were restricted.
