The article also highlights that this infamous prison was built in the 1980s to detain members of Israeli criminal gangs. Although it was closed, it reopened following orders from Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s Minister of Internal Security, after Operation Al-Aqsa Storm. Ben-Gvir has repeatedly boasted about mistreating Palestinian prisoners. These detainees face beatings, attacks by dogs, and are denied adequate medical care and food.
