Iraq Elections and Mechanism for Selecting the Country’s Triumvirate Leaders

The Iraqi parliamentary elections saw participation from over 12 million voters out of 21.4 million eligible, marking a 12.5% increase in turnout compared to the previous cycle-reflecting widespread public enthusiasm for political engagement, according to webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency.
The Independent High Electoral commission (IHEC) stated that voter turnout reached 57.11%, and the elections were conducted with high levels of orderliness.
In its official statement, IHEC confirmed that elections took place under normal conditions and complied with international standards.The manual counting and recounting processes were completed with full consistency,rendering preliminary results indisputable. In Baghdad province alone, voter participation was recorded at 48.76%.
The commission further reported an overall registered voter turnout rate of 56.11%. These results are deemed “non-appealable” as they are based on electronic counting and verification across all provinces.
Official data shows that the Coalition for Reconstruction and Growth led by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani topped the polls in Baghdad with 411,026 votes. The Taqaddum Party headed by Mohammed Al Halbousi secured second place with 284,109 votes,followed by Nouri Al Maliki’s State of Law Coalition in third with 228,244 votes. The National State Forces coalition came fourth with 138,805 votes; Sadqoun Movement ranked fifth; Azm Sixth Coalition sixth; Badr Institution seventh; Al-siyada coalition eighth; followed by Asas coalition and Haq movement respectively.
In Najaf Ashraf province, Reconstruction and Development led again followed by National State Forces in second place and State of Law Coalition third.
Karbala saw Reconstruction and Development taking first place while State of Law Coalition tied for third alongside Ishraqa Kannon Alliance.
In Qadisiyyah province Reconstruction and Development ranked first followed by State of Law Coalition then Badr Organization.
Salah al-Din was led by Taqaddum Party ahead of Reconstruction & Development which placed second while Azm coalition stood third.
Al Anbar province favored Taqaddum party as well as Anbar Hewyat alliance second then Sumam coalition in third position.
Dohuk favored Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), succeeded by Taqaddum party then Reconstruction & Development coalition thereafter.
