G20 Summit Begins Without Trump

The G20 Summit opened on Saturday in Johannesburg, South Africa, marking the first time the summit is held on the African continent, according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn France 24.
This year’s summit takes place amid tensions between Washington and the european Union over Ukraine’s future and a deadlock in climate negotiations held recently in Brazil.
World leaders attending include French President Emmanuel Macron, Indian prime Minister Narendra modi, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
however, U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration announced that South Africa’s priorities on trade cooperation and climate actions do not align with U.S. policies. As an inevitable result, trump declined to attend the summit.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa criticized America’s absence and dismissed Trump’s baseless remarks about “white genocide.” He stressed the importance of the G20 as a platform for multilateral cooperation. Host country plans for this two-day summit focus on reducing economic inequality, lowering debt burdens for low-income countries, and supporting a transition to clean energy.
The G20 comprises 19 member countries plus the European Union. The African Union participates as a guest observer at some sessions.Collectively, this group represents about 85 percent of global GDP and two-thirds of humanity’s population.
