Ryabkov Names Main Obstacle to Resolving Iran’s Nuclear Issue Through Negotiations

According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing TASS via Mehr News Agency, Sergey Ryabkov, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, stated that the European Union is hindering a negotiated resolution regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
In an interview with Foreign Affairs, Ryabkov said, “European countries are the primary obstacle to settling the Iranian nuclear file through negotiations. We support our Iranian colleagues and friends in seeking a negotiated solution.”
He further added that the European union has “completely distorted” the situation amid its political and geopolitical struggles.
The senior Russian diplomat emphasized that Europe is now the main force undermining efforts to achieve a diplomatic solution.
According to Ryabkov, the EU acts as a highly destructive force within today’s international relations system.
He noted, “In my view, no other source of ideas and approaches carries such a concentration of negative energy as Brussels and major European capitals. This affects everything-including Iran’s nuclear issue.”
It is worth noting that last Thursday’s anti-Iranian International Atomic Energy Agency resolution proposed by the United States and the European troika garnered only 19 votes out of 35 in the Board of Governors.
