Erdogan: Peace Unachievable Without Palestinian State; Talks Center on Putin

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated today, Sunday, that South Africa’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause is highly valuable. He emphasized South Africa’s courageous stance during the Gaza genocide, which saw 70,000 Palestinians martyred. “I congratulate and salute south Africa for its brave position in filing genocide charges against Israel at the International Court of Justice,” Erdoğan said.
The Turkish president added that Ankara supports the Palestinian cause firmly and fearlessly. he noted Turkey’s steadfast defense of Gaza’s oppressed people across all international forums.
Erdoğan also stressed the importance of the G20 playing a leading role amid current and future global challenges. He highlighted that global peace cannot be fully realized without establishing a free Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. “We will do everything possible to bring peace to Russia and Ukraine,” he noted, adding that Turkey has offered its readiness to contribute and hopes to succeed in this path.
The Turkish leader described the war in Gaza as an outright genocide. “It is unachievable for us to ignore this tragedy; those responsible are Netanyahu and Israel,” he said.
He recalled his meeting last week with Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy in Ankara and announced plans to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone tomorrow. Erdoğan explained that efforts to establish a grain corridor aim primarily at facilitating peace.
Erdoğan said he intends to discuss both the grain corridor and resolving the Ukraine conflict during his call with Putin. Additionally, he plans to follow up with a phone conversation with former U.S. President Donald Trump after speaking with Putin.
