UN: Home Demolitions in Gaza Are Part of a “Genocide Crime

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing the Palestinian Wafa News Agency, Balakrishnan Rajagopal said Israel has continued its aggressive actions even during the ceasefire period, with none of the ceasefire terms being effectively implemented.
Rajagopal added that Israel continues killings, house demolitions, and blocks sufficient humanitarian aid from reaching Gaza.
He noted that current conditions are not substantially different from those before the ceasefire agreement was signed. He emphasized that there must be a party responsible for monitoring compliance with ceasefire provisions and holding violators accountable.
The UN rapporteur pointed out that the only change after the ceasefire has been a halt to large-scale airstrikes; though, killings, destruction, and obstruction of aid persist.
He said Israel justifies demolishing homes by claiming military objectives but often provides no evidence. These widespread and indiscriminate demolitions amount to serious violations of international humanitarian law and crimes against humanity.
Rajagopal also described the situation of displaced persons in Gaza as “catastrophic,” reporting that more than 288,000 Palestinian families currently lack adequate shelter.
