Belarus Offers Talks with NATO to Ensure Security in Eastern Europe

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reform website, the Belarusian Ministry of Defense expressed its readiness to engage in talks with NATO member states to ensure security in Eastern Europe.
A statement from Valery Rivenka, head of the International Military Cooperation Center and assistant minister of defense for international military cooperation, highlighted ongoing difficult relations between Belarus and Western countries and also NATO.
Rivenka explained that tensions in discussions stem from differences over foreign policy and security. He argued that “the West wanted to make Belarus subordinate to its interests.”
He added, “Naturally, we do not agree with this. We have our own policy-including good neighborliness and ensuring security in Eastern Europe. This contradicts Western views and has affected our overall relations with Western countries, the European Union, and consequently NATO member states.”
