Lieberman: Netanyahu’s Pardon Request Is Blackmail

According to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, Avigdor Lieberman, leader of the so-called “Israel our Home” party, said netanyahu’s pardon request was not a plea for forgiveness but rather blackmail through threats.
Meanwhile,Israel’s Foreign Minister called for an end to Netanyahu’s trial, describing it as beneficial for the regime.
The Shas party also urged Israel’s president to ignore opposition demands and approve Netanyahu’s pardon request.
It is noteworthy that Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, sent a letter to President isaac Herzog requesting a pardon for his charges in court.
In his appeal to Herzog, Netanyahu neither admitted guilt nor apologized; though, submitting this formal request can be seen as an implicit acknowledgment of the accusations against him in court.
Herzog’s office described the request as “exceptional,” explaining that pardons typically follow final verdicts and confessions of wrongdoing. Netanyahu and his family face multiple charges including bribery, abuse of power, and cronyism across more than two cases.
Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump posted on social media that it was time for benjamin Netanyahu to receive a pardon. Trump characterized the legal cases against Netanyahu as unjust and politically motivated.
