Tens of Thousands of Spaniards Protest Against Ruling Government

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Deutsche Welle, tens of thousands gathered in the streets of Madrid to call for the resignation of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
Protesters branded Sánchez’s government as corrupt and called for snap elections.
The demonstrations, under the slogan “Mafia or Democracy?” where organized by the People’s Party lead by opposition leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo. Chants included “Enough!” and “Not one more day!”
Participants waved Spanish flags and carried signs reading “Resign Now!” and “Sánchez, Go!”
The People’s Party estimated attendance at around 80,000, while Spain’s Ministry of Interior reported approximately 40,000 participants. The last major rally against Sánchez in Madrid took place in June last year. Speakers at this event included madrid mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida and former Prime Minister Mariano rajoy.
The main trigger for these protests was a Supreme Court decision earlier this week ordering the provisional arrest of José Luis Ábalos, former transport minister under Sánchez, along with his former adviser koldo García.
Sánchez has been in power as 2018 and has stated he will not resign before the current parliamentary term ends in 2027.He views right-wing efforts as attempts to undermine his leadership.
